Actos (pioglitazone hydrochloride) is an oral medication that is used to treat type 2 diabetes (or non-insulin-dependent diabetes), by lowering blood sugar levels. According to the FDA, Actos has been linked to an increased risk of developing bladder cancer.

You should discuss the risk of fractures with your doctor before taking Actos especially if you have a history of:
- Bone fracture
- Low calcium intake
- Weak bones/osteoporosis
