Please note: the information on this page is provided for informational purposes only. As of 2011, Simmons Hanly Conroy is no longer accepting cases involving Zyprexa.

Zyprexa (olanzapine) is a medication used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. It has sometimes been prescribed along with Prozac. The medication is manufactured by the company Eli Lilly & Co. Since 2001, serious side effects have been linked to its use.

Health Complications and Zyprexa Lawsuits

Potentially fatal Zyprexa side effects have led to a series of Zyprexa lawsuits over the years. Specifically, Zyprexa has been linked to:

  • Diabetes
  • Heart failure
  • Stroke
  • Sudden death

Pneumonia has also been linked to use of Zyprexa. Because of the seriousness of the above health complications, Zyprexa lawsuits began to increase. Furthermore, a medical journal reported that the drug’s manufacturer Eli Lilly & Co. knew of the link to diabetes since 2001. The FDA required Lilly to print the warning label regarding diabetes risk in 2003.
